Alexander Kachkaev
Senior Software Engineer
Alexander joined Ārahi in March 2023, bringing his extensive experience in software architecture, data visualization and research methods. His role focuses on engineering interactive web interfaces and fostering an effective R&D culture at Ārahi.
Alexander’s career blends academic and industry pursuits. He earned a BSc in Applied Informatics in Economics from Penza State University, followed by two MSc degrees from St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University and City University London. Thanks to a scholarship from the ‘World Cities World Class University Network’, Alexander obtained a PhD from City University London in 2015. His research was focused on visual analytics and geodata.
Alexander’s industry experience includes roles at Woods Bagot as a Senior Design Researcher and Concentra Analytics as a Senior Software Engineer, where he helped develop data-rich visual-analytics web applications. Before joining Ārahi, he was a Senior Platform Engineer in a VC-backed startup where he worked on an open-source product for data modeling.
Between his roles in the industry, Alexander undertook research fellowships at City University London and the University of Oxford. He contributed to several data visualization projects across a wide range of domains, including urban planning, musicology, transport, smart energy and social media.
Alexander is an active contributor to open source, which creates a valuable bridge between Ārahi and the global development community. This volunteering commitment helps our R&D team to make the right bets and to effectively leverage modern tech.
